About Domain

Financial records education built for every student

Domain connects students across Ontario with structured, lecture-based financial records courses. Geography is not a barrier here — quality instruction reaches wherever you are.

Our background

What shaped how we teach

Accounting records, journal entries, reconciliation schedules — this content requires more than a textbook. Students need to hear the reasoning spoken aloud, see the logic walked through step by step.

Domain was built around that observation. Every lecture is sequenced to mirror how a practitioner actually thinks: from document receipt through to a finished trial balance, with deliberate pauses at points where students typically lose the thread.

Our courses are delivered entirely online, which means a student in Thunder Bay gets the same instruction as one in Toronto. Province-wide reach is a structural feature of the platform, not an afterthought.

How it works

From enrolment to fluency

01

Choose a subject area

Select from bookkeeping basics, payroll records, GST/HST filing, or financial statement preparation. Each area stands alone — no forced bundling.

02

Follow the lecture sequence

Lectures are ordered by topic dependency. Each session opens with a brief recap of the prior one — building a connected chain of understanding rather than isolated facts.

03

Work through practice documents

Each module includes sample source documents — invoices, receipts, bank statements — that students classify and record using the methods taught in the lecture.

04

Review and revisit freely

All lectures remain available after completion. Students returning to a confusing entry type or a specific reconciliation scenario can find the relevant session within minutes.

The instructors

People behind the lectures

Each instructor at Domain comes from a background in accounting practice, not just academic teaching. The content reflects decisions made at actual desks with actual records.

Instructor Nadia Ostrowski

Nadia Ostrowski

Lead Instructor — Bookkeeping

Nadia spent eleven years in public practice before moving to education. She built the foundational modules around the exact points where clients consistently made record-keeping errors — source document coding, contra accounts, and end-of-period cut-offs.

Instructor Brendt Vanhalle

Brendt Vanhalle

Instructor — Financial Statements

Brendt's background is in corporate reporting for mid-sized Ontario businesses. His lectures on income statements and balance sheet preparation are written from the perspective of someone who has had to explain line items to non-accountant stakeholders under real time pressure.
